London, October 2015: The recently published PMB topical review entitled ‘Quantitative imaging of protein targets in the human brain with PET’ has been chosen as a Featured Article and so is free to access for all. The review was chosen for its novelty, high level of interest and potential impact on future research.
The review analyses the activity of the field around each of the protein targets in order to give a perspective on the historical focus and the possible future trajectory of PET imaging of proteins in the human brain. The important neurobiology and pharmacology is introduced for each of the six protein classes (detailed in the review) and established radioligands are presented for each that have successfully transitioned to quantitative imaging in humans.
